Speaking to reporters on Monday, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health organisation (WHO) said 206 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported inwards China, representing component of the 8739 new cases reported globally as of Monday forenoon.

Dr. Michael Ryan, the Executive Director of the WHO Health Emergencies Programme, told reporters that the organisation was entering “uncharted territory” when it came to containing the global spread of COVID-19, but added he and the organisation are hopeful the virus’ spread can still be contained.

He also added that inwards his thought, any land switching their efforts from containing the spread of COVID-19 to mitigating it’s damaging effects would be tantamount to “surrendering” control over the ultimate end-outcome of the virus’ spread.
