Taranto (ITA) Lama – Bellissima batteria costiera abbandonata appartenuta al 4º Reggimento da Fortezza del Regio Esercito, dislocato inward tempo di pace presso la Caserma “Carlo Mezzacapo”: la Batteria da Costa, “Ammiraglio Saint Bon”. Abbandonata e deturpata, ma ancora imponente e maestosa, essa sorge a poche centinaia di metri dalla scogliera del “Piano Scarfoglio”, un vasto pianoro che prende il nome dall’omonima Masseria appartenuta alla famiglia Scarfoglio, a cui furono espropriati i terreni per le servitù militari e per l’area della costruenda batteria. Realizzata su progetto del Capitano del Genio R.E. Barone Gennaro Bacile di Castiglione fra il 1909 e il 1911, era originariamente armata con 6 Obici Armstrong inward ghisa su affusto ordinario da 280 mm di tipo “L” (lungo) e da 4 cannoni da 87 per la sua difesa da eventuali colpi di mano.
